Perimeter
Measure all four sides
Finished width and length create the base distance the binding must cover.
Calculate straight-grain double-fold binding strips, total working length and the fabric yardage to buy.
Rounded upward to a practical purchase increment.
This is a straight-grain estimate. Bias binding and scalloped edges use different geometry.
We add the quilt perimeter and your working allowance, divide by usable width of fabric for strip count, then round the fabric depth upward.
Finished width and length create the base distance the binding must cover.
The extra length supports corners and joining the two binding ends.
Strip count uses your entered usable width; fabric depth uses the selected cut strip width.
Check the method before cutting every strip.
